Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar announced strict measures to maintain order during the forthcoming New Year celebrations. He warned that the police would take firm action against anyone creating disturbances on the roads. He stressed that public safety would remain the top priority during the festive period. Therefore, the police will not tolerate reckless behaviour or violations of the law.

Meanwhile, Sajjanar said special enforcement drives against drunk driving would begin from Wednesday and continue until New Year’s Day. He made it clear that the police would closely monitor roads across the city. According to him, the objective is to prevent accidents and ensure safe movement for all citizens during the celebrations. He also cautioned people to follow traffic rules without exception.

Later, Sajjanar reviewed security arrangements during a video conference with IPS officers and field level officials. The meeting took place at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre in Banjara Hills. During the review, he issued detailed instructions to strengthen security measures. He said the arrangements should prevent any untoward incidents during New Year celebrations and Vaikuntha Ekadashi.

The Commissioner highlighted the deployment of police personnel in high risk areas and places with a history of crime. He also ordered continuous surveillance on habitual offenders. In addition, he announced that drunk driving checks would be conducted at 100 locations across the city on the night of December 31. These checks will be supported by seven platoons of additional forces.

Sajjanar stated that there would be zero tolerance for drunk driving during the festivities. He warned that those caught driving under the influence would face serious consequences. These include vehicle seizures, fines of ₹10,000, and possible six month jail sentences. He also said the authorities may permanently cancel driving licenses of offenders.

He also urged party attendees to arrange designated drivers or use taxi services. He further warned that young people involved in racing, wheelies, or reckless driving would face strict action. Therefore, the police appealed to citizens to celebrate responsibly and cooperate with law enforcement.
