Hyderabad DCC Applications Draw Overwhelming Response

  • Hyderabad DCC applications boost Congress GHMC poll plans
  • Hyderabad DCC applications reflect trust in Congress government

The Hyderabad District Congress Committee has received an overwhelming response to its online application process for party positions. Applications poured in ahead of the January 4 deadline. DCC President Syed Khalid Saifullah said the strong response shows growing public enthusiasm and trust in the Congress party. He linked this confidence to the leadership of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

Meanwhile, Khalid said the Hyderabad DCC has begun preparations for the upcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections. He announced that the party will soon hold a detailed strategy meeting. The meeting will focus on ward level planning across all 44 divisions under the DCC’s jurisdiction. Therefore, organisational strengthening and election readiness have become immediate priorities for the party unit.

Khalid also pointed to the impact of Congress government schemes, especially in the Old City areas. He said these areas form the core of the Hyderabad DCC’s influence. According to him, over 70 percent of the Old City population is directly benefiting from welfare initiatives. These include free bus travel for women, distribution of new ration cards, free fine rice, and other programmes. He said these measures have already started changing lives on the ground.

“There is visible change on the ground. The people, particularly in the Old City, are witnessing the benefits of Congress governance – something that was completely missing under previous regimes,” Khalid said. He added that the ongoing works on the Old City Metro Rail project have further boosted public confidence. According to him, the project reflects the government’s commitment to inclusive urban development.

Later, Khalid said the Congress party’s focus goes beyond elections. He stressed that development remains central to its agenda. “The Old City was ignored for decades. Today, we are seeing real progress, and this is only the beginning. The Congress government is serious about the development of all neglected areas,” he said. He expressed confidence that welfare and infrastructure initiatives will translate into strong gains in the GHMC polls.

Khalid also confirmed that the final list of Hyderabad DCC office bearers will be announced after scrutiny of applications. He said the selection will remain merit based. He added that special emphasis will be given to women, youth, SC, ST, BC, and minority communities, as recommended by AICC observers. He concluded that the reorganisation is helping the Congress rebuild strength and regain trust in urban Hyderabad.
