Hyderabad Drug Racket | Hyderabad, July 9: A major drug racket operating across upscale pubs and private locations in Hyderabad has been busted by the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB), leading to shocking revelations. Among those involved are restaurant managers, businessmen, and even a reputed heart surgeon.
The racket came to light after the arrest of Surya, manager of the Malnadu Restaurant in Kompally. Based on credible intelligence, the Cyberabad Narcotics Police nabbed Surya. During the search of his vehicle, the police found OG weed, ecstasy pills, and women’s slippers in a parcel box under the seat — with cocaine hidden inside the heels.
Hyderabad Drug Racket Busted | Drug Parties Across Hyderabad’s Nightlife Scene:
Upon questioning, Surya disclosed a wide network of drug use and supply. An MBA graduate from Bengaluru, Surya started the restaurant in 2020 and frequently hosted parties at his cousin’s farmhouse in Mulugu. There, he and associates like Harsha (Himayathnagar) and Navdeep Reddy (Bollaram) consumed narcotics.
He admitted to using cocaine at high-profile pubs such as: Prism Pub (Financial District); Farm Pub (Jubilee Hills); Birdbox (Madhapur); and Block 22 (Hitech City).
He further revealed that special zones within pubs like Quake Arena, Exora, and Broadway were being used for drug consumption with friends including Sandeep Kurapati (Manikonda) and Venkat (Vijayawada).
Hyderabad Drug Racket Busted | Shocking Names Emerge:
The investigation revealed names of multiple individuals involved, including:
Dr. Prasanna, a well-known cardiovascular surgeon from a leading Gachibowli hospital; Jaswanth (Puppalaguda); Sunil (Bengaluru); and Sandeep Juvwadi (Karimnagar).
Surya confessed to buying cocaine nearly 20 times from Harsha between 2021–22 and also sourced drugs from Sandeep and a friend named Mohan from Khajaguda, who had connections with a Nigerian supplier named Jerry based in Bengaluru.
International Nexus
In May 2024, Surya traveled to Thailand, where he met Nick, a Nigerian national residing in Delhi. Nick became a key supplier of cocaine and ecstasy, which Surya later sold to others including Rahul, Rohit Madisetty, Pawan, and Srideep. Surya confirmed that ₹80,000 was recently transferred to Nick’s account for a cocaine purchase.
Multiple Accused, Network Spreads Wide:
Based on Surya’s confession and further probe, the police have registered cases against 25 individuals, including:
Dezmond, Stanley, and Prince (Nigerians); Vikram Reddy (Bhimavaram) and Tanuj (Ayyappa Society)
Police have intensified efforts to dismantle the network, and investigations are ongoing to trace further links within the city’s nightlife and drug circles.
