The main demand was to convert RSQ1, which was currently occupied by unauthorized individuals such as PhD graduates and guest lecturers, into a boys’ hostel for 250-300 students. They proposed moving eligible residents of RSQ1 to the B5 quarters, so space could be freed up.

Some of the key issues were the seepage of water from the floors above to the floors below, poor sanitation due to inadequate cleaning services, and a lack of maintenance for the water purifiers, which made it unsafe for the students.

The Students Demanded The Following Immediate Actions:

  • Cancel Current Sanitation Agency: They demanded the cancellation of the current sanitation agency as it was inefficient.
  • Appoint Competent Sanitation Services: Fresh tenders should be issued for a reliable agency.
  • Temporary GHMC Involvement: Until an agency is assigned, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) should solve drainage and sanitation problems.
  • Maintenance Of Water Purifiers: Purifiers should be cleaned regularly so that safe drinking water is supplied.
Student leaders Rahul Naik and Shivakrishna pointed out that the current hostel conditions were affecting the
health and focus of students. They urged the university administration to prioritize these issues and take swift
action to create a healthier, more conducive environment for students.
