Former ISRO Chairman K Kasturirangan Passes Away

Bengaluru/Hyderabad, April 25 (Maxim News): Former ISRO chairman K Kasturirangan (84) passed away, who had been suffering from ill health for some time, breathed his last at his residence in Bengaluru today (Friday)

He served as the Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization, the Space Commission and the Secretary to the Government of India in the Department of Space.  Kasturi Rangan, who served as the chairman of ISRO for almost 9 years, took India to the highest level in the field of space.  He retired on August 27, 2003.  Kasturi Rangan was born in Ernakulam, Kerala.  he served as the Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University.  Apart from this, Kasturi Rangan also served as the Chairman of the Karnataka Knowledge Commission.

He was also a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2003 to 2009.  He also served as a member of the Planning Commission of India.  Kasturi Rangan also served as the Director of the National Institute of Advanced Studies in Bengaluru from 2004 to 2009.  Kasturi Rangan has received the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma vibhushan awards.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi and political leaders have condoled the death of former ISRO Chairman  Kasturi Rangan.  Officials said that his body will be kept at the Raman Research Institute for viewing on April 27.
