Hyderabad Local Body MLC Elections Begin Amid Tight Security

Hyderabad, April 23:The much-anticipated Local Body MLC elections kicked off this morning in Hyderabad, with polling set up at two designated centers within the GHMC Head Office. Voting will continue till 4 PM today.

The election has drawn attention as it sees a direct contest between Majlis (AIMIM) candidate Mirza Riyaz Ul Hassan Effendi and BJP’s Goutham Rao, both vying for the crucial MLC seat.

To ensure a smooth and peaceful polling process, authorities have deployed over 250 police personnel, with tight security arrangements in and around the GHMC premises.

Voters, mostly elected representatives from urban local bodies, were seen arriving steadily to cast their votes, with election staff maintaining order and assisting throughout the process.

The final verdict will be known on April 25, when counting of votes is scheduled to take place at the GHMC Headquarters.
