Hyderabad: Man Washed Away In Floods Found Dead Under Balkampet Underbridge

HYDERABAD: A 27-year-old man heading home from work was swept away in the accumulated floodwaters at the Balkampet underpass following heavy rains that lashed Hyderabad on Wednesday (September 17, 2025) night. He was rushing towards his home in Musheerabad from his office in Balnagar, said an officer from the SR Nagar police.

The victim, identified as Mohammad Sharfuddin, a resident of Musheerabad, was riding his two-wheeler towards Begumpet when the force of gushing water knocked him down and carried him away around 11 p.m.

According to police, Sharfuddin was employed at a food manufacturing plant in Balanagar. He is survived by his wife and young daughter.

SR Nagar Inspector T. Srinath Reddy said it was his regular route home and he was aware of the recurring waterlogging. “He had left his office in a hurry to attend a function near his home in Musheerabad when the incident occurred,” said the officer.

The Inspector added that the body was recovered from the same area and was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem examination.
