Hyderabad: New Year’s Traffic Restrictions, What You Need to Know

Hyderabad, Dec 31 (Maxim News): As the clock ticks closer to midnight and Hyderabad gears up for New Year’s Eve festivities, navigating the city’s streets requires a little extra planning.

To ensure a smooth and safe celebration, the Hyderabad Traffic Police have implemented temporary traffic restrictions around Hussain Sagar Lake, the city’s vibrant hub for New Year’s revelry.

Restricted Zone: NTR Marg, PVNR Marg (Necklace Road), and Upper Tankbund will be off-limits to vehicles from 10:00 PM on December 31st, 2023, to 2:00 AM on January 1st, 2024.

V.V. Statue: Traffic heading towards Necklace Road and NTR Marg will be diverted at V.V. Statue towards Nirankari and Raj Bhavan Road.

BRK Bhavan: Diversions for traffic towards NTR Marg start at Telugu Thalli Junction, with routes leading to Iqbal Minar, Lakadikapul, and Ayodhya Junctions.

Liberty Junction: Avoid traffic jams by taking the Ambedkar statue detour towards Telugu Thalli, Iqbal Minar, Ravindra Bharathi, and other alternate roads.

Khairatabad Market: Head towards Sensation Theatre, Rajdoot Lane, and Lakdikapul to reach Necklace Rotary.

Secunderabad: Navigate via the Sailing Club towards Kavadiguda X Roads, Lower Tank Bund, Kattamaisamma Temple, and Ashok Nagar, RTC X Roads.
Sky Bridges Off Limits:

All city flyovers will be closed during the restricted hours, except for the PVNR Express flyover accessible to RGIA airport passengers with valid air tickets.

Heavyweight Exemptions: Travel buses, lorries, heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), and heavy passenger vehicles (HPVs) will have to wait until 2:00 AM on January 1st, 2024, to enter Hyderabad City.

The Hyderabad Traffic Police will be vigilant against drunk driving, rash and dangerous driving, overspeeding, triple riding on two-wheelers, and other traffic violations. Remember, safety is paramount, so follow traffic rules, drive responsibly, and cooperate with the police on duty.

Keep yourself informed about any last-minute changes or additional restrictions by checking the official Hyderabad Traffic Police website or social media channels.

With a little planning and awareness, you can navigate Hyderabad’s New Year’s Eve traffic restrictions and enjoy a safe and festive celebration. Remember, the goal is to reach your destination and ring in the New Year with a smile, not a traffic ticket.

Happy New Year from Team IND TODAY! (Maxim News)
