Hyderabad: Newly Married Woman Committed Suicide

Hyderabad: A 19-year-old woman who was married last month committed suicide at her in-laws house at Chandrayangutta in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to the police, Firdous Fatima (19) of Qutbullapur got married to Mohammed Iqbal (27), a mobile phone technician and resident of Ismailnagar under Chandrayangutta police station limits, in November.

Iqbal and his parents were reportedly harassing Firdous Fatima after marriage and demanding a motorcycle. The parents of the woman had given two tolas of gold and assured to arrange the motorcycle at a later date.

“On Wednesday around 2.30 am, the woman hanged herself to the ceiling fan in the house. On noticing it, her husband and in-laws rushed Firdous to Osmania General Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead,” said S Goverdhan Reddy, sub-inspector, Chandrayangutta police station.

The family members of Firdous Fatima told the police that Iqbal was already married and his parents had hidden the fact before marriage.
