Hyderabad: Noted Movie Director Nishikant Kamat No More
Hyderabad: Noted movie director and actor Nishikant Kamat passed away at a private hospital here on Monday evening. He was 50.
Kamat was admitted to AIG Hospitals in Hyderabad on July 31 with complaints of fever and excessive fatigue. It was diagnosed that he was suffering from liver cirrhosis for the last two years, hospital officials said.
“Initially, we started antibiotics and supportive medications upon which Kamat showed improvement, but his condition soon deteriorated with progressive liver dysfunction and drowsiness. He was immediately shifted to the ICU, where his general condition gradually declined. Since yesterday, he developed respiratory failure and hypotension. Despite maximum efforts, his condition deteriorated eventually leading to multiple organ failure. From Monday afternoon onwards his vital parameters started declining and at 4.24 pm he succumbed to his illness. Our condolences are with his family, friends and fans,” a statement from AIG Hospitals said.
Kamat is known for directing the Hindi remake of South Indian blockbuster Dhrisyam and other noted movies like Mumbai Meri Jaan, Force, Rocky Handsome, and has acted in a few films including Daddy, Julie 2 and Bhavesh Joshi, to mention a few.
