Hyderabad Police Cyber Crime Awareness Drive Launched
Hyderabad, Feb 21 (Maxim News): Hyderabad City Police have launched a new cyber crime awareness drive under the ‘Jagrut Hyderabad – Surakshit Hyderabad’ campaign.
The initiative brings social media influencers on board to spread cyber safety messages. Police aim to educate citizens in a simple and engaging manner. The campaign operates under the leadership of City Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar.
As part of the drive, influencers are producing short and impactful videos on common cyber fraud techniques. These videos explain scams in clear language.
They also guide citizens on how to stay safe online. The public has responded positively to the initiative. Moreover, several well known content creators have voluntarily joined hands with the police.
The videos are being shared through the official social media handles of Hyderabad City Police and the Commissioner. Therefore, the message is reaching a wide audience.
The content blends entertainment with practical cyber safety advice. Recent videos have focused on trending frauds and are gaining strong traction online.
Hyderabad Police Partner Influencers Against Cybercrime
One video highlights lottery scams. It shows a fictional situation where a woman receives a call claiming she has won Rs 25 lakh.
The caller asks her to share an OTP to receive the prize. However, she handles the situation smartly. The message clearly states that citizens must not share banking details or OTPs with unknown callers.
Another video exposes the so-called digital arrest scam. In this fraud, criminals pose as officials from agencies such as the CBI, police, or RBI.
They attempt to scare victims through video calls and sometimes wear fake uniforms. The video informs citizens that no genuine government agency in India conducts investigations through video calls.
Police have advised citizens not to panic if they receive suspicious calls. Instead, they should dial the toll free helpline 1930 or file a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in.
Commissioner V C Sajjanar urged more digital creators to join the campaign. He said, “Your influence can shape public thinking.
Create meaningful content on cyber safety and share it widely. Ensuring a safe and informed society is a shared responsibility.” (Maxim News)
