Hyderabad Police Nab 5 for Sharing Fake Amit Shah Video
Hyderabad, May 3 (Maxim News): The Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police arrested five people: Pendyala Vamshi Krishna, Manne Sathish, Pettam Naveen, Asma Tasleem, and Koya Geetha, all living in Hyderabad. They were spreading a fake video of a speech of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during his election rally in Siddipet.
Ms. Dara Kavitha, Deputy Commissioner of Police for Cyber Crimes in Hyderabad City, said they received a complaint on April 27, 2024, from G. Premender Reddy, who is the BJP State General Secretary. He reported that the Telangana Pradesh Congress Party had posted a fake video of Amit Shah on their Twitter account (now X).
This act by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Party President and their social media team was considered an offense under the IT Act.

It was done with the intention to mislead people and create fear among the OBC communities. The Cyber Crime Police registered a case under various sections of the law and investigated.
The accused persons were part of the TPCC Social Media unit. Their job was to watch social media posts about political parties and share them on their official and personal Twitter accounts. On April 23, 2024, during a public meeting in Medak, Amit Shah gave a speech.
Pendyala Vamshi Krishna (A1) received a fake video of this speech on WhatsApp, which he then posted on the “@INCTelangana” Twitter handle and shared in different WhatsApp groups. Manne Sathish, Pettam Naveen, Asma tasleem and Koya Geetha also saw the video and shared it on their own Twitter accounts. When Twitter flagged the content as sensitive, they removed it. This violated the Model Code of Conduct.
The police seized 5 mobile phones;1 I Ball Slide(tablet); 2 Acer laptops; and 2 CPUs.

Today, they were brought before the Hon’ble XII the A.C.M.M. Court at Nampally, Hyderabad. The court set bail conditions: Each accused person had to pay Rs. 10,000 and provide two sureties. They had to report to the investigating officer on Mondays and Fridays until further notice. (Maxim News)
