Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police’s C-Mitra virtual helpdesk has helped register more than 1,700 Zero FIRs, enabling faster action in cybercrime cases. Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar highlighted the initiative during the 80th Independence Day celebrations in Hyderabad.
Sajjanar said C-Mitra was introduced to make complaint registration easier and speed up investigations. The virtual helpdesk allows police to initiate cases even when the offence falls outside the jurisdiction of the station receiving the complaint.
C-Mitra strengthens Hyderabad cybercrime response
The commissioner also highlighted other initiatives aimed at improving police response. The Spandana women responder system, launched by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, receives around 30 complaints every day and provides prompt assistance.
Sajjanar said special driving training would soon be provided to 300 women police personnel. The initiative is aimed at improving their operational capabilities and field response.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad Police has launched Operation Octopus to target the financial networks of cyber criminals. The operation focuses on disrupting the economic resources that support cyber fraud activities.
The commissioner also said the police have adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards food adulteration. A dedicated H-FAST wing has been established to tackle the issue.
In addition, the H-NEW wing has been strengthened to combat drug trafficking and consumption in Hyderabad.
Sajjanar made the remarks while addressing the Independence Day programme at the CAR Headquarters in Petlaburj. He also presented commendation certificates to 72 police officers for their dedication and outstanding performance.
Senior officials, including CAR Headquarters DCP R Venkateshwarlu, Charminar Zone DCP Khare Kiran Prabhakar, Task Force DCP Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath and DCP (Administration) K Venkata Lakshmi, attended the programme.
