Hyderabad, Oct 21 (Maxim News) : Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud has said that a Backward Classes (BC) leader will become the Chief Minister of Telangana one day, asserting that the Congress has no immediate deadline or urgency to appoint a BC leader to the top post.
He expressed confidence that the Congress would remain in power until 2034 and even 2039, citing the welfare schemes implemented by the government and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s performance.
Speaking in a recent interview with a YouTube channel, Mahesh Kumar Goud said the Congress was committed to the political empowerment of BCs and that the goal of a BC Chief Minister could be achieved through the party.
However, he maintained that Revanth Reddy could continue as Chief Minister in the next term if the Congress wins the upcoming Assembly elections.
Goud said there was no need to rush the BC Chief Minister issue, adding that the party’s future political decisions would depend on developments within the Congress. He also described the BC empowerment agenda as an idea championed by Rahul Gandhi.
Mahesh Kumar Goud Questions BRS and BJP on BC Leadership
Commenting on Revanth Reddy’s reported assertion that he would remain Chief Minister until 2034, Goud said the statement was intended to reassure Congress workers and that there was nothing wrong with it.
He expressed confidence that the government’s welfare programmes and administration would help the Congress secure another term.

Goud questioned whether the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) could make a BC leader Chief Minister. He also criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), arguing that the party’s claims about appointing a BC Chief Minister were inconsistent with its decisions on state leadership positions.
Referring to BJP leaders Bandi Sanjay Kumar and G. Kishan Reddy, Goud alleged that the party had failed to give adequate opportunities to BC leaders.
He also referred to former Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya while criticising the BJP’s approach to leadership representation.
The PCC chief said that a majority of the corporation positions filled by the Congress government had gone to leaders from Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs) and Backward Classes. He further claimed that the Congress had provided greater representation to disadvantaged communities in local body elections.
Goud asserted that the Congress was committed to the political representation and welfare of SCs, STs and BCs.
Telangana | Comments on Konda Surekha and BRS
Responding to the controversy involving Telangana minister Konda Surekha, Goud said her daughter, Konda Sushmitha, had acted in haste.
He also rejected the impression that the BRS had gained strength through its activity on social media, claiming that the Congress remained strong at the grassroots level.
Goud said people had experienced the BRS government’s administration and what he described as its police-driven rule. He argued that the party was unlikely to receive another opportunity to govern Telangana.
He also claimed that the BJP would struggle to establish a strong political presence in the state. Describing his relationship with Revanth Reddy, Goud said the two had developed good political chemistry and added that he would not pay attention to what he described as misinformation campaigns against him.
His remarks come amid continuing political debate over BC representation, leadership succession and the Congress government’s prospects in Telangana. While Goud expressed confidence that a BC leader would eventually become Chief Minister, he did not announce any timeline for such a change. (Maxim News)
