HYDRA And PCB To Work Together From Now To Protect Ponds

Hyderabad, Nov 19 (Maxim News): HYDRA and the Pollution Control Board (PCB) have decided to work together for the protection of ponds in the city.

HYDRA steps up to prevent encroachment and pollution of ponds. HYDRA has taken a step forward in line with the government’s aim to conserve them and make them environmentally friendly. In this regard, HYDRA Commissioner AV Ranganath held a meeting with PCB Secretary Ravi at the Pollution Control Board office. On this occasion, key discussions were held on various issues and it was decided to move forward together on various issues.

Officials of both departments participated in the meeting held at the PCB office. In the meeting, Ranganath mentioned the objectives of HYDRA such as conservation of ponds, protection of government lands from encroachment, protection of flood water, canals, and areas reserved for public purposes. Both sides discussed the measures to be taken to prevent sewage, industrial waste, and pollutants from entering the ponds. It was decided in the meeting to establish a surveillance system with the officials of both departments to prevent the dumping of industrial waste in the canals. The authorities decided to test the water.  It has also been decided to develop a system to know which company the chemicals are mixed with.

Officers Ranganath and Ravi believe that there will be a chance to take action against them. Also, a meeting was arranged with the industrial groups and the PCB regulations. It was decided to create awareness to ensure compliance. Even after that, they decided to take strict action against the companies if they put the waste in the drains. Officials hope to check pollution by appointing pond conservation committees with residents, environmentalists, and students.

Based on the already registered cases and complaints, a decision was taken to arrest the accused after a thorough investigation. As per Chief Minister Revanth Reddy‘s direction to protect the environment and provide a better life for future generations, both departments have decided to work together in coordination.  (Maxim News)
