HYDRA launches fire safety inspections; Neeru’s showroom sealed in Jubilee Hills, furniture shop shut in Nampally
HYDRA launches fire safety | Hyderabad, Jan. 29 (Maxim News): The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRA) has intensified fire safety inspections across the city, targeting shops and commercial complexes that violate fire safety norms.
As part of the drive, authorities on Thursday sealed Neeru’s showroom located on Road No. 36, Jubilee Hills, and shut down a furniture showroom on Nampally Station Road.
During the inspection at Neeru’s showroom, HYDRA officials found multiple violations, including the absence of Fire NOC, inadequate fire extinguishers, and large-scale storage of garments across three basements and four floors.
Officials also noted the construction of an unauthorised rooftop shed and the use of upper floors for garment manufacturing and storage, posing a serious fire hazard.
Taking serious note of the violations, HYDRA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath ordered the immediate sealing of the premises.

The showroom was declared a ‘Fire Unsafe Shop,’ fencing was erected, and power supply was disconnected by the electricity department. Officials from HYDRA, Fire Services, GHMC, and the electricity department jointly participated in the inspection.
In a separate action, HYDRA sealed a furniture showroom on Nampally Station Road, where a major fire accident at another furniture store last week had claimed five lives.
Despite the tragedy, several shop owners in the area failed to take safety precautions.
At the Standard Furniture store building belonging to Rahim and Mannan Estates, officials found six floors along with a cellar packed with large quantities of furniture.
The stairway access was blocked by stock, and no fire extinguishers were found on any floor. The building was also operating without a Fire NOC.

Following a detailed inspection of all six floors, HYDRA ordered the immediate closure of the premises, stopped power supply, and halted all commercial activity in the building.
HYDRA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath urged citizens to report fire safety violations by shops and commercial establishments.
Complaints can be lodged with the HYDRA control room at 9000113667 or directly to 7207923085. Citizens can also send photos and videos via WhatsApp, or report violations on X (Twitter) through the handle Commissioner_HYDRAA. (Maxim News)
