Hyderabad, Sept. 25: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has deployed trained swimmers and Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams at major immersion points ahead of the main Ganesh idol immersion in Hyderabad.
At Hussain Sagar, 150 swimmers will work in three shifts, with 50 personnel assigned to each shift. Another 84 swimmers have been deployed at immersion points under the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation limits.
HYDRAA has also deployed 51 DRF teams to respond to emergencies and assist devotees during the immersion processions.
HYDRAA Deploys Safety Teams Across Immersion Points
The arrangements cover major water bodies and immersion points across the city. HYDRAA has also made preparations at IDL Lake in Kukatpally, where the water body has been deepened to around 25 feet to facilitate safer idol immersion.
HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath said the agency was coordinating with other departments to ensure the immersion process was conducted safely and in an orderly manner.
Earlier, HYDRAA had announced a wider deployment of 394 trained swimmers, 51 DRF teams and 21 bike-borne teams across 103 water bodies under the GHMC, CMC and MMC jurisdictions for the September 25 and 26 immersion arrangements.
At Hussain Sagar, HYDRAA has also arranged boats to support rescue operations during the immersion. Officials have emphasised crowd management, barricading and emergency preparedness at the immersion points.
The safety arrangements come as thousands of devotees are expected to participate in Ganesh immersion processions across Hyderabad.
