Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police have deployed around 20,000 personnel and nearly 10,000 CCTV cameras for security during the final Ganesh immersion procession on Friday.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar inspected security arrangements at the Khairatabad Bada Ganesh idol on Friday. He also offered prayers along with senior police officials.
Sajjanar said elaborate arrangements had been made to ensure the immersion festivities and the main procession from Balapur to Hussain Sagar pass off peacefully.
The police are coordinating with the GHMC, electricity, water works and other departments as part of the security plan. The final procession is expected to draw lakhs of devotees from Hyderabad and neighbouring areas.
10,000 CCTV Cameras Linked to Command Centre
Nearly 10,000 CCTV cameras installed along major procession routes have been linked to the Telangana State Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC) at Banjara Hills.
The cameras will enable round-the-clock monitoring of crowd movement and procession routes. Police have also deployed 24 drones and nearly 100 high-rise cameras at key locations for additional surveillance.
For women’s safety, 26 SHE Teams will operate in three shifts at crowded locations. Police have also deployed specialised teams to prevent theft, harassment and other incidents during the procession.
Security checks have been intensified at railway stations, bus terminals, shopping malls and entry points into the city. Bomb detection teams are also conducting checks at sensitive locations.
Police have made arrangements along the Balapur-Hussain Sagar procession route, with rescue boats and trained divers positioned at major water bodies.
Sajjanar urged citizens to follow traffic advisories issued by the Hyderabad Traffic Police and plan their journeys accordingly.
He appealed to devotees and residents to celebrate the Ganesh immersion festival peacefully and safely while cooperating with the police and other departments.
