Ibrahimpatnam Chairman Election Gets HC Nod
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has cleared the way for the Ibrahimpatnam Municipal Chairman election in Rangareddy district. The court stated that the final decision on the election rests with the Returning Officer. Therefore, the process can move ahead as per rules.
The court also directed the district collector and police not to put any pressure on Akula Yadagiri, who won as the 19th ward councilor. It stressed that he must be allowed to act on his own. This direction came amid concerns raised before the court.
Ibrahimpatnam Municipal Chairman Election and High Court Direction
The Telangana High Court heard a habeas corpus petition filed by Harikant, the son of Akula Yadagiri. He alleged that his father was missing. Meanwhile, the court examined the circumstances presented during the hearing. It then clarified that steps should be taken to ensure that Yadagiri acts voluntarily.
The bench made it clear that the responsibility to take the final call on the chairman election lies with the RO. As a result, no external pressure should influence the process. The court’s remarks aim to ensure a fair and lawful election procedure.
Habeas Corpus Petition Over Akula Yadagiri
According to the petition, Harikant approached the High Court claiming that his father was missing. The matter was taken up for hearing. During the proceedings, the court focused on safeguarding Yadagiri’s freedom of choice. It emphasized that he should function without coercion.
With this clarification, the hurdle in the Ibrahimpatnam Municipal Chairman election has been removed. Consequently, the election process is expected to proceed under the supervision of the Returning Officer. The High Court’s directions underline the importance of a transparent and pressure free electoral process in Rangareddy district.
