Illegal PDS Rice Racket Busted In Hyderabad

Hyderabad, November 17 (Maxim News): In a swift operation, the Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone Team, Hyderabad, has busted an illegal PDS (Public Distribution System) rice racket and arrested two individuals involved in the illicit trade.

Acting on credible information, the Task Force set up a trap near RTC Crossroad in the jurisdiction of Chikkadapally PS and intercepted a TATA ACE vehicle carrying a substantial quantity of PDS rice.

The investigation revealed that the accused, Mohammed Salauddin (27), a habitual offender with a history of five previous arrests for similar offenses, had been orchestrating an illegal PDS rice business.

He engaged local agents to procure subsidized rice from Food Security Card beneficiaries at a low price of Rs. 10/- per KG in and around Hyderabad. After amassing the rice, he would transport it to isolated areas and then sell it to PDS Rice agents in Rajendra Nagar at an inflated price of Rs. 30/- to 35/- per KG, reaping significant illegal profits.
