Illegal Structures Demolished Near JBS Ahead of Defence Minister’s Visit
Hyderabad, Sept 10 (Maxim News): The Secunderabad Cantonment Board took up demolition of illegal structures in front of Jubilee Bus Station (JBS), Secunderabad, in the early hours of Wednesday.
The SCB took to clearing encroachments and ensuring security arrangements for the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit tentatively scheduled on September 17.
“Over the past two decades, encroachers operated businesses such as hotels and eateries by encroaching on Class C (Cantonment) land of the Secunderabad Cantonment, located in front of the JBS (exit entry) on the left side. They also encroached on the nala and erected iron sheds. Although SCB served notices several times, the encroachers ignored them and continued their operations” a senior SCB official told.
The demolition operation was carried out in the Cantonment area by senior SCB officials early this morning. JCBs were deployed, and the demolition was completed within two hours, reclaiming the Cantonment land. The area remained under tight security with the local police throughout the operation, said SCB officials.
The operation was taken up without significant disruption to the passengers and TGSRTC bus services, said the official.
Sources of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board said, “Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to unveil a statue of former Prime Minister, the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Park, formerly Picket Public Gardens, near JBS Parade Ground Metro Station. The SCB maintains the century-old Picket Public Gardens.”
Malkajgiri BJP MP Eatala Rajender as well as SCB civilian-nominated member Bhanuka Narmada, invited the Union Defence Minister to unveil the statue. (Maxim News)
