India declares Pakistani military diplomats ‘Persona Non Grata’, summons top envoy in Delhi
Hyderabad, April 24 (Maxim News): In a strong diplomatic response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, India on Wednesday summoned Pakistan’s top diplomat in New Delhi, Saad Ahmad Warraich, and handed over a formal Persona Non Grata notice against all Pakistani military attachés, according to official sources.
This move comes after a deadly terror attack that killed 26 people and left several others injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack, calling it a “cowardly act against innocent civilians.” The attack is believed to have been carried out by the Resistance Front (TRF), a Pakistan-based terrorist organization.
In retaliation, India has officially declared Pakistan’s Defence, Military, Naval, and Air Advisors, posted at its High Commission in New Delhi, as Persona Non Grata—a diplomatic term used to expel foreign officials. These officials have been ordered to leave India within seven days.
At the same time, India will withdraw its own Defence, Navy, and Air Advisors from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, effectively ending all such military-diplomatic exchanges. Additionally, five support staff members associated with these positions will also be recalled from both countries.
This move marks a significant escalation in diplomatic tension between the two neighbours, signaling India’s firm stance against cross-border terrorism and state-supported militancy. (Maxim News)
