New Delhi, Sept. 21: India and Saudi Arabia discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation during a meeting between Ambassador Vipul and Riyadh Governor Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Vipul met the Governor of Riyadh on Sunday at the Emirate of Riyadh Province. The meeting covered the broad relationship between India and Saudi Arabia, according to the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia.
The discussions focused on trade, investment, energy, technology, education and culture. The two sides also discussed people to people relations.
The Indian Embassy said the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on the close and wide ranging ties between the two countries. Vipul also thanked the Governor for continued support and care for the Indian community in Saudi Arabia.
India and Saudi Arabia maintain cooperation across economic, energy, defence and cultural areas. The relationship operates under the framework of the Strategic Partnership Council, which supports regular high level engagement between the two countries.
India Saudi Arabia Cooperation Gains Momentum
The latest meeting followed another engagement between Ambassador Vipul and Saudi officials earlier this month.
Vipul met Saudi Arabia’s Assistant Minister of Defence, Khaled bin Hussain Al Biyari, in Riyadh. According to the Indian Embassy, the two sides discussed defence cooperation and regional developments.
The meeting also reaffirmed their stated commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between India and Saudi Arabia.
Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh also visited Saudi Arabia from September 5 to 8. During the visit, he held meetings with Saudi officials on areas including environment and climate action.
Singh met Saudi Arabia’s Vice Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Mansour Hilal Al Mushaiti. They discussed bilateral cooperation in environmental matters and climate action.
The minister also visited an Al Fanar Company labour camp and interacted with Indian workers. He highlighted their contribution to ties between India and Saudi Arabia.
Singh also met Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Climate Envoy Adel al Jubeir. The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and discussed cooperation on climate action.
Trade Energy and People Ties Remain Key Areas
The recent engagements cover several areas that form part of India Saudi Arabia cooperation. These include trade, investment, energy, defence, technology, environment and people to people contacts.
MEA records show that the two countries have maintained regular high level exchanges and institutional mechanisms under the Strategic Partnership Council. The framework includes political, security, economic and social cooperation.
The engagement with Saudi officials also highlights the role of the large Indian community in bilateral relations. India has continued to raise issues concerning the welfare of its citizens working and living in Saudi Arabia.
The latest meetings come as both countries continue discussions across multiple sectors. Officials have maintained contact through ministerial and diplomatic channels.
The Indian Embassy said Vipul and the Riyadh Governor exchanged views on strengthening cooperation across several areas. The discussions therefore covered both economic priorities and wider people to people relations.
