India Strengthens Defense Ties With New Zealand and Singapore

Delhi, May 31: India strengthened its defense partnerships with New Zealand and Singapore during high level meetings held on the sidelines of the Shangri La Dialogue security conference in Singapore.

Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh held separate bilateral talks with senior leaders from both countries to expand cooperation in key strategic areas, including maritime security, defence technology and regional stability in the Indo Pacific.

India Defense Ties Gain Momentum at Shangri La Dialogue

During his meeting with Chris Penk, Rajesh Kumar Singh discussed ways to deepen defence cooperation between India and New Zealand.

Both sides reviewed collaboration in maritime security, information sharing and joint military exercises. They also expressed confidence that stronger cooperation would help protect shared interests in the Indo Pacific region.

Rajesh Kumar Singh later met Chan Chun Sing and held extensive discussions on defence technology, defence industry partnerships, cyber security, maritime cooperation, joint training programmes and regional security issues.

The talks highlighted the growing strategic partnership between India and Singapore and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the Indo Pacific.

The meetings took place during the ShangriLa Dialogue, one of Asia’s leading security forums, where defence and security leaders discuss regional and global strategic challenges.

Officials said the engagements reflected India’s continued focus on strengthening defence cooperation with like minded partners amid evolving security dynamics in the Asia Pacific region.
