London, June 14: A 26 year old Indian origin man was killed in a knife attack in Southall, west London, prompting a murder investigation by the police.
The victim was identified as Gurbhej Singh. According to authorities, the incident took place shortly after midnight outside a shop at the junction of North Road and Dormers Wells Lane in Southall.
Police said officers responded after receiving a report from the ambulance service about a stabbing in the area. Emergency teams reached the spot and found two injured men.
Gurbhej Singh suffered serious knife injuries and was declared dead at the scene despite medical efforts. His family is receiving support from specialist officers.
London Police Launch Murder Investigation
A second injured man, believed to be in his 30s, was shifted to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.
The investigation led to the detention of seven men aged between their early 20s and late 30s on suspicion of murder. After further questioning, police released six individuals without further action, while one suspect was granted bail and is expected to return at a later date.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell said investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the attack and extended condolences to the victim’s family.
Authorities have appealed to witnesses to share any information, including CCTV footage or mobile recordings, to assist the investigation.
Police said the motive behind the attack has not yet been established and enquiries remain ongoing.
