Hyderabad, July 24: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday directed officials to construct Indiramma houses in locations close to employment and livelihood opportunities, with a focus on utilizing vacant government land within urban areas.
The Chief Minister issued the directions during a review meeting on the construction of Indiramma houses within the Future City (CURE) limits.
Revanth Reddy instructed officials to identify and utilise unused government land for the housing project at the earliest.
He directed that special attention be given to vacant government land located within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and approved the use of land belonging to the police, revenue and transport departments for the construction of housing units.
The Chief Minister said the government aims to ensure that beneficiaries have access to housing close to workplaces and employment opportunities.
According to the Chief Minister, 7,680 Indiramma flats will be constructed in 17 Assembly constituencies during the first phase of the programme.
Each flat will have a built-up area of 528 square feet, with an estimated construction cost of ₹11 lakh per unit.
He said the government would provide a ₹5 lakh subsidy for each flat, while the entire cost of the land would be borne by the State government.
Revanth Reddy directed officials to expedite the process of identifying suitable government land and said the government was committed to providing housing for economically weaker sections within close proximity to the city.
