Hyderabad: Trainee IPS officer Mulagani Uday Krishna Reddy, who is facing allegations of sexually assaulting a fellow woman IPS trainee, has become untraceable, with police unable to locate him during the ongoing investigation, according to official sources.
Police sources said investigators visited two residences in Hyderabad where Uday Krishna Reddy was known to stay but failed to find him at either location. His mobile phone has also remained switched off, raising further concerns.
Police fail to trace IPS trainee accused in sexual assault case
The woman IPS trainee lodged a complaint with the Attapur police on July 18, accusing Uday Krishna Reddy of sexual assault and other offences. Based on her complaint, police registered a case under Sections 74, 75, 77, 78, 79, 127(2), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, along with Sections 66E and 67A of the Information Technology Act.
According to sources, shortly after the FIR was registered, Uday Krishna Reddy allegedly consumed excessive alcohol and lost consciousness. Suspecting it to be a suicide attempt, his brother and friends shifted him to a private hospital, where he received treatment before being discharged two days later.
The trainee officer subsequently approached the Telangana High Court seeking to quash the FIR registered against him.
However, the High Court declined to grant him interim protection from arrest and adjourned the matter for further hearing.
Police are continuing efforts to trace the accused officer while the investigation into the allegations remains underway.
