Jaipur Express Train incident was an act of terror: Congress

Hyderabad, August 2: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Minority Department Chairman, Shaik Abdullah Sohail, expressed his condolences on Wednesday to the relatives and neighbours of Syed Saifuddin, who tragically lost his life in a terror attack perpetrated by an RFP Constable on the Mumbai-bound Jaipur Express.

Syed Saifudin, a resident of Bazarghat, Nampally, Hyderabad, was an employee at a mobile shop in Galli and was returning to Hyderabad from Ajmer via Mumbai when he fell victim to the attack, which claimed the lives of three other passengers and an officer.

Shaikh Abdullah Sohail Sahab visited the family of the victim. He learned that Syed Saifuddin’s family had reached Bhagvati Hospital in Borivali, Mumbai, to take his remains to their hometown, Bidar, by ambulance by road. He provided heartfelt support and assured the family that the Congress party would stand by them during this difficult time.

The Congress leader emphasized that the incident was an act of terror driven by Islamophobia. He pointed to the video allegedly recorded by the perpetrator, RFP Constable Chetan Singh, after killing four people on the train. The video seemingly reveals that he was heavily influenced by the anti-Muslim hate speeches propagated by leaders of the BJP and RSS. Abdullah Sohail dismissed the defence offered by some senior railway officials that the accused constable was merely short-tempered and mentally unstable.

He raised concerns about why the railway authorities allowed someone with such a mental condition to carry a weapon while on duty.Abdullah Sohail further asserted that the BJP Government has been fostering communal hatred across the country and supporting those who deliver hate speeches. He strongly condemned the silence of Home Minister Amit Shah, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and other BJP leaders regarding the incident. He questioned whether they would denounce the attack as an act of terror and called for a thorough investigation to understand how the constable became radicalized by hate speeches, leading him to commit such an act of terrorism. (Maxim News)
