Jawan Killed, Another Injured In Militant Firing in Jammu And Kashmir

Jammu And Kashmir, July 22: A Special Operations Group (SOG) jawan was killed and another was injured after militants opened fire on security personnel in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday. Security forces have launched a massive search operation to trace the attackers.

According to officials, the incident occurred on the Anantnag Kokernag road while two SOG personnel were on duty. Militants opened fire, leaving both jawans critically injured.

The injured personnel were rushed to a nearby hospital. Doctors declared one of them, identified as Ashiq Hussain, dead on arrival. The condition of the injured jawan was not immediately disclosed.

Security Forces Launch Search Operation

Following the attack, security forces cordoned off the area and launched an intensive search operation. Additional personnel were deployed to prevent the militants from escaping.

Police registered a case and began an investigation into the incident.

In a separate incident, an Army jawan died after accidentally falling from a height in the Rajouri sector.

Officials identified the deceased as Sukhpreet Singh (27), who was deployed at the Mahadev post in the Sunderbani sector. He reportedly lost his footing while on duty and died from the fall.

Authorities are making arrangements to send his body to his native place.
