Jubilee Hills By-Poll: CP Sajjanar Orders Surrender of Licensed Weapons
- Hyderabad Police prepares for peaceful election; strict code of conduct enforcement begins
Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar has directed all individuals holding licensed firearms in the city to immediately deposit them at their respective police stations, as the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect following the Election Commission’s notification for the Jubilee Hills by-poll.
Sajjanar, addressing the media alongside Hyderabad District Election Officer RV Karnan, said that the police are fully prepared to ensure the Jubilee Hills by-election is conducted peacefully and transparently. He emphasized that every measure is being taken to guarantee that voters can exercise their franchise in a safe and fair environment, free from intimidation or unrest.
Strict enforcement of election rules begins
Sajjanar clarified that as per election guidelines, all leaders, businessmen, and celebrities with gun licenses must surrender their firearms until the completion of the poll process. The police will be closely monitoring all movements within the city, particularly in sensitive areas, to prevent any violations of the election code.
He stated that any breach of conduct or suspicious activity should be reported immediately to the police by calling 100 or 112. Sajjanar assured citizens that quick response teams have been deployed to act promptly on such complaints.
The Commissioner also revealed that the bind-over process for rowdy sheeters and history sheeters is being initiated to prevent potential disturbances during the polling period. Police personnel have been instructed to remain vigilant and ensure that law and order are maintained throughout the election campaign and voting process.
Police ready for smooth voting process
Sajjanar reiterated that the Hyderabad Police is fully equipped to handle any situation during the Jubilee Hills by-poll. Coordination between the election authorities and police will continue until the completion of counting. He said that preventive measures, including surveillance and patrolling, will intensify across polling stations to maintain peace.
He appealed to citizens to cooperate with law enforcement and help ensure that the by-election is conducted in an atmosphere of safety and order.
