Jubilee Hills Bypoll | Hyderabad, July 30: With the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency gearing up for a high-stakes by-election following the sudden demise of the BRS candidate, the political heat is on the rise.
Amid speculations and strong public sentiments, senior Congress leader Feroz Khan has issued a sharp counter to Minister Ponnam Prabhakar’s recent remarks on ticket allocation.
Ponnam Prabhakar had earlier stated that the Congress would field a candidate from the local community for the Jubilee Hills seat, emphasizing the importance of grassroots representation.
However, Feroz Khan responded by asserting that the decision on who gets the ticket lies solely with the party high command, not with individual leaders..
“A party contests elections, not individuals. The final decision on the candidate for Jubilee Hills will be taken by the Congress leadership,” said Feroz Khan.

He also dismissed the idea that only a local can contest the seat by pointing out the national trend in politics. “Were Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi born in Wayanad? Why did they contest from there? The same logic applies everywhere,” he remarked, defending the practice of fielding suitable candidates irrespective of their place of origin.
Addressing the sensitive caste dynamics in the constituency, Feroz Khan said, “Even in Jubilee Hills, if Chandrababu Naidu approves, Kamma votes will come. Politics isn’t that straightforward.”
Meanwhile, the demise of the BRS candidate has created a sympathy wave, potentially boosting the BRS’s prospects in the bypoll. However, the Congress remains confident of a strong showing, banking on internal unity and public support.
