Nizamabad MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha appreciated the Irrigation Department and the State government for executing the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project works at a face pace.
She along with a host of elected representatives from Nizamabad district visited Medigadda barrage works under the project in Mahadevpur mandal in the district on Tuesday. She was accompanied by Mission Bhagiratha Vice Chairman V Prashanth Reddy.
Speaking to the press on the occasion, Kavitha described the Kaleshwaram project as a lifeline to Telangana and said that the project will address the drinking water needs of twin-cities of Hyderabad-Secunderabad in addition to addressing the irrigation needs of farmers across the State.
According to the MP, the State government had taken the project execution in a prestigious manner to benefit the future generations of Telangana. The project after completion could ensure irrigation to about 18 lakh acres of new ayacut and would provide 36 TMCs of drinking water.
“The speed at which Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project works are going on proves the government’s commitment. The works are going on a massive scale and the project would be completed as expected,” Kavitha said.
Manthani MLA P Madhu, MLAs from Nizamabad district B Govarthan, A Jeevan Reddy, Jagitial TRS in-charge Sanjay Kumar, large number of local bodies elected representatives and Farmer Coordination Committee members and coordinators were present.
