Kavitha’s Political Moves Fuel Buzz Ahead Of Municipal Elections
Hyderabad, Jan. 23 (Maxim News): Speculation over the political future of Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha has intensified after she parted ways with BRS and signalled plans to launch a new party ahead of the municipal elections.
Kavitha has already announced that Jagruthi leaders will contest the upcoming municipal polls.
She recently held meetings with aspirants at her Hyderabad residence, which added momentum to the buzz. Although she is yet to formally announce a new party, discussions are underway on the symbol her candidates may use.
Kavitha meets Forward Bloc leaders amid poll talk
On Friday, Kavitha met leaders of the All India Forward Bloc in Hyderabad.
The meeting triggered speculation that it was linked to the municipal, MPTC, and ZPTC elections. Political circles are discussing whether Jagruthi candidates may contest with the support of the Forward Bloc.
Sources say Kavitha is exploring the option of fielding candidates on the Forward Bloc symbol of a lion. The party has limited organisational strength, but its election symbol is considered influential in local body polls.
The Forward Bloc has a past electoral presence in parts of undivided Nizamabad and Karimnagar districts.
In the 2018 elections, a Forward Bloc candidate won in Ramagundam. The party also secured several MPTC and ZPTC seats in the 2019 local body elections.
In the 2023 Assembly elections, the party polled a marginal vote share in Telangana. However, its symbol continues to attract leaders denied tickets by major parties during local elections.
With Kavitha stepping up political activity ahead of the municipal elections, her strategy and alliances are being closely watched.
The extent of public support for her next political move will become clear in the coming months. (Maxim News)
