He said there were no discussions or proposals regarding any merger between the two parties.

Venugopal made the remarks after a meeting of senior Congress leaders held at Indira Bhavan on Thursday. The meeting lasted for nearly three hours and focused on several political and organizational issues.

Speaking to the media, the Congress General Secretary clarified that both parties were functioning independently and pursuing their respective political agendas.

He stated that there was no truth in reports circulating about a possible merger and urged people not to rely on unverified claims and social media speculation.

Venugopal also noted that coordination among opposition parties and electoral alliances remain an important aspect of Indian politics. However, he emphasized that such cooperation should not be interpreted as discussions on a merger.
