KCR Challenges To High Court On Kaleshwaram Commission Report

Hyderabad, Aug 19 (Maxim News): BRS Chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao and MLA Harish Rao challenged the justice Chandra Ghose Commission report in the High Court. They filed two separate writ petitions. They alleged that the Congress government had appointed the commission as part of political gains. The commission report was given in the way the government wanted. KCR and Harish Rao appealed to the High Court to issue orders to stop the commission report.

Meanwhile, the Medigadda Barrage collapsed on October 21, 2023, while the Annaram and Sundilla barrages also experienced cracks. After the Congress government was formed in the state, Justice PC Ghosh appointed a commission on March 14, 2024 to investigate allegations of corruption along with technical flaws in the construction of the barrages. The commission examined 115 witnesses and submitted its report to the government on July 31.

It is reported that the Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose Commission has stated in its report that former CM KCR is directly and indirectly responsible for the failure of Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages, which are part of the Kaleshwaram project.

It is also reported that former ministers Harish Rao and Etala Rajender, along with former Chief Secretary of the Irrigation Department Shailendra Kumar Joshi, then CM KCR’s additional Secretary Smita Sabharwal, former ENC (General) of the Irrigation Department C. M<uralidhar and former ENC of the kaleshwaram project Hariram have also been revealed to have a role. It is reported that KCR has been revealed to have a role in the irregularities that occurred in the planning, construction, completion, operation and supervision of the barrages. (Maxim News)
