GHMC Commissioner Inspects Maithrivanam Nala for Flood Mitigation Measures

Hyderabad, August 19, 2025: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner R.V. Karnan on Tuesday inspected the Nala at Maithrivanam, accompanied by Zonal Commissioner Anuraag Jayanthi, Chief Engineer Rathnakar, and a technical consultant, to review and plan the remodeling of the existing drainage system.

The visit was aimed at identifying engineering solutions to strengthen the nala for effective flood mitigation and enhanced public safety. Officials assessed the present bottlenecks in the flow of stormwater and discussed possible interventions to reduce inundation during heavy rains.

The Commissioner RV Karnan directed the engineering wing to prepare comprehensive proposals for redesigning and improving the nala structure, with an emphasis on long-term sustainability. “The objective is to ensure smooth water flow, minimize urban flooding, and safeguard public life and property,” he said.
