KCR plans K’Pochamma water to Gandipet, Rs 600 cr for water in outskirts: KTR
Hyderabad, Jan.24 (Maxim News): Municipal Administration and IT Minister KT Rama Rao today said that Rs 1200 crore is being spent for providing potable water to villages beyond Outer Ring Road (ORR). KT Rama Rao laying the foundation stone for the ORR Phase-II at Alkapoor TOWNSHIP, Manikonda area along with Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, MP Ranjith Reddy, MLA Prakash Goud, MLC Surabhi Vanidevi and officials.
Speaking on the occasion he claimed that the TRS Government has taken all measures to address water woes in the city. Now that the state Government is able to address the water issues which were seen at the water board, he said. The state government with GHMC has planned to spend Rs 1200 crore for providing purified drinking waters to the colonies outside of Outer Ring Road. It includes Rs 600 crore only to the colonies of the outskirts as we consider all those segments and colonies merged into the GHMC purview area of Hyderabad.
He said that Rs 587 crore has been spent for providing water to the colonies near Manikonda and Alkapuri areas under phase -2 to get them purified water. Hyderabad being in the midst of the country as per geography has all advantages of climatic conditions and our plan is to cater to its future needs, he said.
He said that other metro cities like Delhi face pollution problems with increased population, Bombay, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru face different problems and Hyderabad do not face such problems.
The Minister said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao plans to shift water from Kondapochamma reservoir to Gandipet Lake (Osman Sagar) to address future needs of the city. As per KCR directions we plan to address water needs of the city based on population growth by 2051. We plan to construct another water line from Sunkishala near Krishna River to cater to future needs of the city and outskirts, the minister maintained.
The Minister said that before bifurcation the water board used to see the protests by women with empty pots always. Now after bifurcation Chief Minister has addressed the problem of water and people are getting water in the city by addressing the issue, he said. The minister further said that the entire state gets water through Mission Bhagiratha with the vision of the chief minister to cater potable waters to districts, towns and rural areas through Mission Bhagiratha.
The Minister claimed that the people should remember which government is able to address the pending water problem. With the new water facility the households to get water connections include in the segments of Maheshwaram, Ibrahimpatnam, Rajendra Nagar, Medchal, Kutbullapur, Patancheruvu segments, the minister said.
