KCR showers sops on Anganwadi employees too

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced several sops to the Anganwadi workers here on Monday. He said salaries of Anganvadi employees will be increased up to Rs 10,500 and to the assisting staff Rs 6,000. He also assured that their salaries would be increased further next year.

The Chief Minister had a meeting with Anganwadi employees at Pragathi Bhavan today and discussed with them about their problems. He also discussed with them on how to strengthen the Anganwadi centers and their development. On the occasion, the Chief Minister directed the officials to give promotions to Anganwadi employees, who have higher educational qualifications. He also assured that Anganwadi activists, who have no house of their own, will be provided houses. Steps will be taken to stop harassment of Anganwadi employees by the higher officials, he assured.

Directing the Anganwadi employees to feed the children adequately and not to feed on the basis of grams as was done in the past, the Chief Minister said there was no compromise with regard to children’s health. He asked the Anganwadis to provide quality food to pregnant women. He also suggested to them to take steps to see that child deliveries are done in the government hospitals.

Stating that his government was contemplating to pay Rs 12,000 to pregnant women in three phases, the Chief Minister said the government was considering proposals to pay Rs 13,000 to the parents of girl-child. He also directed the Anganwadi employees to strive to reduce child deaths.
