KCR Striving for Welfare of Washermen Community: Harish Rao

Huzurabad, Sept.26 (Maxim News): Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is striving for the development of Washermen community in the State and he has allocated Rs. 250 crore in the Budget for their welfare. This was stated today by the Finance minister T Harish Rao at the Washermen blessing meeting here.

The Minister stated that the government is officially celebrating Chakali Ailamma jayanthi. The Chief Minister has been introducing many programmes for the welfare of all communities and to protect their traditional trades.

He said the Government is providing free power supply up-to 250 units for washermen. In the coming days, loans would be provided to the community through Washermen corporation in Hyderabad. three acres of land was given to the community apart from Rs. Five crore to protect their dignity.

Harish said the State government has requested the Centre to provide reservation in legislative bodies for Washermen and also to create a separate Ministry, but there was no response from the Centre.

He said the prices of essential commodities are going up day by day due to the policies of the BJP government at the Centre. (Maxim News)
