KCR warns of suspension if potholes found in State after June 1
Hyderabad, May 1 (Maxim News): Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar has directed the officials concerned to ensure that no road in the State has any potholes and by May end all the potholes on the roads to be filled up. The CM said he will travel all over the State after June 1 and if finds any pothole on the road stringent action will be taken against the officials concerned.
The CM said it is regrettable that despite funds are allocated in the Budget for laying new roads and repairing the existing ones, still there are roads, which are damaged, and with potholes. He said, hence forth, the laxity on part of the officials would not be forgiven.
On Monday, the CM held a review meeting on the activities and works under R&B Department’s jurisdiction in Pragati Bhavan. R&B Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, MP K Keshav Rao, Chief Secretary SP Singh, Principal Secretaries S Narsing Rao, Sunil Sharma. Ramakrishna, E-in-Cs Ganapati Reddy, Ravinder Rao and others participated.
“We have released funds for the development of roads in the State such a quantum was never released in the history. We have impressed upon the Centre and got several National Highways sanctioned. We have given funds for lying of new roads and repairing the existing ones. But yet we have roads, which have potholes. They are causing accidents. The other day when I visited Warangal, I have travelled by road from Warangal to Palakurthi. I have found several potholes. I have told in the past to fill-up those potholes whenever the need arises. But the officials have not taken up seriously. This not a good method and I am giving one month’s time. Fill up all the potholes by May end. After this, if I find any pothole I will suspend the official concerned then and there,” the CM warned.
“As part of the roads development, we are bringing in roads under Panchayat Raj to R&B and roads under R&B under the National Highways. Due to this, they may some delay caused in laying new roads. If roads have potholes they are not being attended to and are leaving in that condition without getting the repairs done. If the contractor who signed an agreement for the development roads choses not to work, the roads will remain unattended to. People are facing the problem. This situation should change. Repair works should go on regularly,” the CM advised.
“We have allocated funds for the construction of district head quarters and accepted the designs too. Start calling the tenders. Start the construction process in ten to 15 days and the entire constructions should be completed by one year. Finish the construction of MLA Offices in the Constituencies speedily. We have re-organised districts so as to reach governance to the people. It will be beneficial to the people if the offices are constructed. There should not be any delay on the matter.” The CM instructed.
“In proportion to the work load there is a need to have more senior officials in the department. In R&B and Irrigation departments there is a need to have more E-in-Cs and other higher officials. You have to increase their strength. There are several works being done under R&B Jurisdiction. Increase the posts of senior officials in the department based on the need. We are extending the services of retired officials only to take advantage of their experience. In such a case, it will do injustice to those waiting for promotions. Hence like in the police department, create additional posts. Promotions should be given promptly. Fill up new posts with the promotes. Then there will not be any injustice done to anyone,” the CM gave guidance.
“Take up repair works on Station Ghanpur and Palakurthi road. We will release the necessary funds. Form a four-lane road between Perkit and Jagtial. With this a four lane road will come into use between Nizamabad and Warangal,” the CM said. (Maxim News)
