Hyderabad, August 20: Khethworks Private Limited, an agriculture-focused social enterprise developing affordable solar-powered irrigation solutions, has opened a new corporate office in Sainikpuri, Hyderabad.
The new office marks an important step in the company’s efforts to expand technology-driven solutions for small and marginal farmers, particularly those cultivating small plots of land.
Khethworks Focuses on Affordable Solar Irrigation
Khethworks develops portable and efficient solar-powered irrigation systems designed around the needs of dryland and small-plot farmers.
The company aims to address key challenges faced by farmers, including unreliable rainfall, limited access to irrigation and the high cost of conventional fuel-based water pumps.
Its solar-powered systems are designed to provide farmers with a more affordable and reliable source of irrigation while reducing dependence on diesel and other conventional fuels.
Khethworks emerged from the MIT Tata Center for Technology and Design, where its technology was developed to address irrigation challenges faced by small-acreage farmers in India.
The company has focused on developing solutions that can support farmers through different stages of the crop cycle, particularly in regions where access to reliable irrigation remains limited.
The new Hyderabad office is expected to support Khethworks’ continued work in developing and expanding its agricultural technology solutions.
The company said its approach is centred on creating affordable, portable and reliable solar irrigation systems that can be adapted to the requirements of small farmers.
The initiative is also aimed at improving access to irrigation for farmers who may not have the resources to invest in conventional pumping systems.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has previously highlighted Khethworks as a startup developing solar-powered pumps that can help farmers irrigate their crops throughout the year.
With its new Hyderabad presence, Khethworks is expected to further strengthen its efforts to develop sustainable irrigation technologies and expand access to clean-energy solutions for small and marginal farmers.
