Hyderabad, Aug 15 (Maxim News): The death toll in the Jammu and Kashmir cloudburst incident has reached 65. Rescue operations are underway in Chositi village on Friday for hundreds of people who are missing. On the other hand, the situation there suggests that the death toll is likely to rise significantly.
Heartbreaking scenes are currently being seen in Chositi, NDRF and SDRF personnel, along with local police, soldiers and volunteers, are participating in the rescue operations. Bodies trapped under mud and rocks are being pulled out, The injured are being identified and shifted to the hospital. Since yesterday, 200 people have been rescued by rescue teams. Some of them are in critical condition.
As The mud is being removed from the Chositi, bodies are being uncovered. Everywhere you look, blood stains are visible. The bodies were torn apart by the impact of stones. The internal organs of the body came out. they were changed beyond recognition. On the other hand, the villages and devotees were searching for their missing loved ones. Their cries cast a shadow of sadness over the village.
Sudden rains wreaked havoc in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. Heavy floods inundated Chositi village due to cloudburst. Many houses were submerged due to the flood. Officials say that 1,200 people were in the village when the flood hit. It is said that about 220 people were missing in this incident. It seems that the number could be higher due to the large number of devotees.
Chositi village is located in a remote area, 90 km from the district headquarters of Kishtwar. The famous Machail Mata temple is located 8.5 km from here. Devotees who come for the yeatra use Chositi as a base camp. They come here in vehicles and then go to the temple on foot. The Machail Mata Yatra began on July 25 this year. On Thursday, due to a cloudburst, heavy rain fell on such a village for exactly an hour and suddenly flooded. (Maxim News)
