An electrician was injured after being attacked with a knife by a local resident during a power outage dispute in Pahadishareef on Friday evening. The incident occurred at Wadi e Mustafa in the city when the victim, identified as Jameel, was working to fix a faulty electricity transformer.

The repair work was being undertaken along with a lineman from the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL).

According to police reports, the area had been facing repeated power failures throughout the day. Despite continuous efforts, the technical snag in the transformer could not be rectified immediately. The delay in restoring electricity reportedly triggered frustration among residents.

One of them, identified as Babu Jani, got into an argument with Jameel over the prolonged outage and questioned the delay.

The verbal exchange soon turned into a physical altercation between the two. Witnesses said both men hit each other before residents intervened and separated them.

However, the situation escalated a few minutes later when Jameel went near Jani’s house. On noticing him, Jani allegedly came out armed with a knife and attacked him, causing severe bleeding injuries.

Local people rushed Jameel to a hospital for medical treatment. Following the attack, the Balapur police reached the spot and detained the accused, Jani.

Officials confirmed that a case has been registered and further investigation is ongoing. The incident has sparked concern in the locality, as the confrontation stemmed from growing frustration over recurring power cuts and delayed maintenance work.
