Hyderabad, Sept. 12: Former Telangana minister Konda Surekha received a call from the Congress high command and was asked to come to Delhi, party sources said.
Telangana Congress affairs in charge Meenakshi Natarajan reportedly spoke to Surekha on Friday.
The development comes after Surekha was removed from the Telangana Cabinet following controversy over her remarks on the Parakala Assembly constituency.
Sources said the Congress leadership may consider giving Surekha a cabinet level position.
Konda Surekha Gets High Command Message Amid Party Action
Surekha made the remarks during her birthday celebrations in Geesugonda in Warangal district.
Her comments involving Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the Parakala seat drew criticism within the Congress.
The party’s disciplinary committee later sought an explanation from her. Surekha submitted two letters to the committee.
The committee submitted its report to the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief. The report was subsequently sent to the party leadership.
The Congress leadership later removed Surekha from her ministerial post.
However, Surekha clarified that she would continue as an MLA. She also said she would remain among the people.
Meanwhile, a Facebook post stating “Big update coming soon” went viral. Surekha has reportedly clarified that she was not connected with the post.
The latest Delhi call has triggered speculation about the Congress leadership’s next move involving Surekha.
