- Kerala Trader Rinshad Shot, Rs 6 Lakh Looted
Hyderabad, Feb. 16: A major breakthrough has been achieved in the Koti SBI ATM robbery case in Hyderabad.
The Telangana Task Force Police have arrested one of the main accused in Haryana. The arrest marks a significant step in the investigation into the firing and robbery targeting a Kerala trader.
The incident took place near the SBI main branch ATM at Koti, one of the busiest areas in the city. The accused allegedly opened fire on a Kerala based cloth trader and looted cash from him.
According to police sources, based on the preliminary information given by the arrested accused, special teams are now searching for another absconding suspect in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
Gang Planned Robbery for Three Months
During the investigation, shocking details have emerged. The gang, reportedly from Uttar Pradesh, had been planning the robbery for the past three months.
They closely monitored the victim’s movements. Moreover, they conducted reconnaissance to identify the exact time he would deposit cash at the ATM.
The victim, identified as Rinshad, a cloth trader from Kerala, had come to Hyderabad for business purposes. He was staying in Nampally. On January 31, at around 7 am, he went to the SBI main branch ATM in Koti to deposit Rs 6 lakh. At that moment, the assailants fired two rounds at him.
One bullet hit Rinshad in the leg, causing injuries. The attackers then snatched the cash bag and his scooter before fleeing the scene. The daring robbery created panic in the busy locality.
Local Link Unearthed
Meanwhile, police had earlier arrested a person from the Old City for allegedly providing shelter to the gang and assisting in the robbery. The latest arrest in Haryana has further strengthened the case.
However, the search for the remaining accused continues. Special police teams are actively conducting raids in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to nab the absconding suspect.
Authorities are confident of further progress as the investigation moves forward.
