KTR Slams CM Revanth Reddy: Telangana Burdened With ₹15,000 Crore Due To Metro Decision

Hyderabad, Sept 27 (Maxim News): Former BRS minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over the Hyderabad Metro project, alleging that the state has been burdened with ₹15,000 crore due to what he described as the CM’s “ill-considered, arrogant and dictatorial decision.”

Speaking to the media, KTR said, “The people of Telangana have been burdened with Rs. 15 thousand crores due to the CM’s irresponsible decision. L&T withdrew from the Hyderabad Metro because of his dictatorial tendencies.” He added that the decision has imposed a massive debt on the state in just a single day.

KTR also highlighted the BRS government’s support for the Metro project. “When we came to power in 2014, only 20 to 25% of the Metro work was completed. Former CM KCR encouraged L&T despite concerns over ridership following state bifurcation. He sanctioned a soft loan of ₹3,000 crore, releasing ₹900 crore to save the project during the COVID crisis,” KTR explained. He stressed that during the BRS tenure, daily Metro ridership grew to 5 lakh passengers, often leading to a shortage of coaches during peak hours.

The former minister criticized the Congress-led regime’s handling of public transport extensions, saying, “We extended the line up to Mindspace and built skywalks to ensure passenger convenience.” He questioned the Revanth government’s decision to assume ₹15,000 crore debt, pointing out ongoing issues such as unpaid ITDA employees and delayed DA and retirement benefits.

KTR Alleges Land Grab in Metro Deal

KTR also alleged ulterior motives behind the Metro decision. “CM Revanth Reddy and associates are eyeing 280 acres of valuable land allotted to L&T. This decision has increased L&T’s share value by 3%, but what benefit does it bring to the people of Telangana? Was this for bribes or commissions?” he demanded.

According to KTR, this sudden financial burden adds to the existing ₹2.20 lakh crore state debt calculated by the CAG, creating further economic pressure on Telangana’s citizens. (Maxim News
