Hyderabad: BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) has decided to issue a legal notice to Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy over allegations linking him and his family to private firm Globarena in connection with the 2019 Intermediate examination results controversy.
KTR demanded that the Chief Minister either issue a public apology for what he termed “false and defamatory allegations” or face legal action.
KTR Denies Any Links to Globarena, Seeks Public Apology
The decision comes after Revanth Reddy, while addressing a Congress protest in Kodangal against the detention of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi in New Delhi on Wednesday, alleged that irregularities in the 2019 Telangana Intermediate examination results had driven 27 students to die by suicide.
The Chief Minister claimed that the contract for conducting the Intermediate examinations was awarded to Globarena, which he alleged was a proxy company linked to KTR despite lacking the required qualifications and experience.
Rejecting the allegations, KTR accused the Chief Minister of spreading “fake news” for political purposes.
“The Telangana Chief Minister should start acting like a Chief Minister at least once in his solo term. Resorting to peddling fake news on a very unfortunate incident like paper leaks is abhorrent and demeans your position,” KTR said.
The BRS leader categorically denied having any association with Globarena.
“Let me reiterate once again—BRS, my family and I have no links to Globarena whatsoever. My legal team is shortly sending you a notice to either apologise or face legal action,” he said.
KTR also stated that he had ignored several allegations made by Revanth Reddy in the past.
“My silence doesn’t mean I agree with you. It’s just that I don’t like wrestling in the dirt,” he remarked.
The exchange marks the latest escalation in the political confrontation between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS, with the 2019 Intermediate examination controversy once again becoming a point of political debate.
