Lal Darwaza Bonalu 2026 | Hyderabad, July 31 (Maxim News): Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar participated in the Shikhara Puja and Dhwajarohanam ceremonies at the historic Sri Simhavahini Mahankali Temple, Lal Darwaza, marking the beginning of the famous Ashada Bonalu celebrations.
Sajjanar said elaborate security and civic arrangements have been made to ensure the festival is conducted peacefully and safely.
Speaking on the occasion, Sajjanar said the Lal Darwaza Bonalu celebrations, which have a history of more than 120 years, represent Hyderabad’s rich culture and traditions. He noted that the Bonalu festivities at Golconda and Balkampet concluded peacefully and expressed confidence that the Lal Darwaza celebrations would also be successful with coordinated efforts from all departments.

The Commissioner said the safety and convenience of devotees remain the top priority. Around 2,000 police personnel have been deployed for security and crowd management during the festival.
He added that Hyderabad Police are working closely with the GHMC, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (Water Works), Electricity Department, Roads and Buildings Department, and other civic agencies to ensure uninterrupted services and prevent inconvenience to devotees.
Sajjanar said the police have also intensified surveillance to prevent eve teasing, chain snatching, pickpocketing, and other crimes during the celebrations. Special teams from the Crime Wing and She Teams will maintain 24-hour vigilance throughout the festival.
The Commissioner appealed to devotees, temple committee members, and the public to cooperate with the police to ensure the Bonalu festivities are conducted peacefully, safely, and with traditional fervour.
Additional Commissioner of Police (South Zone) Tafsir Iqbal, Charminar Zone DCP Khare Kiran Prabhakar, GHMC Zonal Commissioner Satyanarayana, Endowments Department officials, and temple committee members also attended the programme. (Maxim News)
