Lands Worth Rs. 15,000 Cr Belongs To Telangana: Supreme Court

Delhi/Hyderabad, Dec 19 (Maxim News): The Supreme Court has given a key verdict regarding the lands in Telangana. It has clarified that the lands worth Rs. 15 thousand crores located at Sahebnagar near Vanasthalipuram in Hyderabad belong to the Telangana Forest Department. Going into details, the dispute over the 102 acres of land located at Sahebnagar has been going on for almost 20 years. 260 people had previously filed petitions in the High Court claiming to be the heirs of Niza, Salarjung and Meeralam for the ownership rights of this land.

The court that heard them ruled in favor of 260 people. Challenging this verdict, the Telangana government appealed to the Supreme Court. A bench of Justice Pankaj Mittal and Justice SVN Bhatti conducted a lengthy hearing on this petition. In the end, it stated that those 102 acres were completely forest land. It ruled that the full rights related to these would remain with the state government. The Supreme Court issued orders to the Chief Secretary of the state government to notify those lands as reserve forests within 8 weeks. It also said that a copy of the notification should be sent to the Supreme Court Registry  (Maxim News)
