A group of militants affiliated with LeT mercilessly killed 26 innocent people in Baisaran.  According to intelligence sources, the group is mainly made up of foreign terrorists.  It is suspected that local militants and some others in Kashmir supported them.

Intelligence sources believe that Hafiz Saeed and his top aides may have directly helped these terrorist groups with the support of the Pakistani government.  It is reported that Hafiz Saeed, who was responsible for the 26/11 atrocities, may have provided all kinds of support to the terrorists.  Intelligence sources say that this terrorist group has been active in the Kashmir Valley for a long time. This group was involved in the Sonamarg, Butapatri and Ganderebal attacks last year.  In the attack in Butapatri last October, a total of four people, including two army jawans, were killed, in the same month, an attack targeting Sonamarg tunnel workers killed six workers and a doctor.

However, in December last year, security forces killed a Lashkar terrorist named Junaid Ahmed Bhat from this terrorist group.  The rest somehow escaped and fled into the nearby forests.  Intelligence sources say that after carrying out a major attack, these terrorists will go underground.  They have said that they will hide in the forests there until further orders are received from their Pakistani handlers.

Intelligence sources believe that the terrorists involved in the latest attack were under the control of LeT chief Hafiz Saeed and his top aide.  They suspect that they may have received all kinds of support from the Pakistani military and ISI.

The militants targeted three areas in the Baisaran Valley and launched a surprise attack.  According to police reports, five people were killed in one area, two in another plain and the rest near the valley border.  Those who managed to escape by crossing the fencing were able to escape the attack.  Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Police released the sketches of the six attackers.  Two of them are Pakistanis and the other is a resident of the local Anantnag district.

The police have also announced a reward of Rs. 20 lakh for information on the whereabouts of the accused.  Security forces on Thursday identified the hideouts of the terrorists in the nearby forests.  Security forces are making intensive efforts to trace them.  (Maxim News)
